I wrote about how Senator Jason Allen (R) of the 37th district introduced a bill that forces unionization of home health care workers, then he inserted language to stop that from happening.  But wait, not so fast, the idea sounds great to the Democrats, who introduced a bill on May 19th, that, at the time, was Allen’s call to glory.

Let’s check the timeline here:

SB 731 was introduced by Allen on August 5th, 2009.

Allen caught heck for it by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy on December 15th, 2009.

Every concerned person paying attention in Michigan flogged him for it from December until now.

House Bill 6195 (Authorize unionization of home personal assistance providers ) is introduced by Rep. Bert Johnson (D) to empower the state to unionize 42,000 individuals hired by elderly or disabled Medicaid recipients to provide personal care services in their homes, on May 19th, 2010.

Then Jason Allen finally inserted the language in his own SB 731 to deny that unionization on May 27th, 2010.

So, let’s see, 5 and a half months after catching heck from small-government conservatives, and a week after the Democrats decided to join the bandwagon behind Allen, he finally got the change made.

Would that put Allen on the list of reacting to Democrats quicker than conservatives of his own party?

One Response to Forced Unionization Idea Sounds Good to Democrats

  1. Michigan taxpayer says:

Didn't Jason Allen first receive a campaign donation from the SEIU union 6 weeks prior to his introduction of the bill ?
